Rm 9,27-29
uma releitura paulina do conceito de “resto de Israel” e da “descendência de Abraão”

A parte final da sequência de textos do Antigo Testamento utilizados por Paulo em Rm 9,27-29 exprime a forma paulina de releitura da relação entre Deus e o seu povo. Esta releitura aponta para a natureza da Igreja, formada por dois grupos: os étnico-cristãos (Rm 9,25-26) e judeu-cristãos (Rm 9,27-29), segundo o desígnio de Deus. A Igreja é, portanto, não apenas o fruto maduro da pregação do Evangelho, mas a própria realização da Palavra de Deus (Rm 9,6a) transmitida por meio dos profetas; por conseguinte, a Igreja nasce de dois povos, a partir da livre escolha divina (Rm 9,7-13). Nesse horizonte hermenêutico paulino, a releitura dos textos proféticos utilizados em Rm 9,27-29 tem como ponto de partida o uso retórico da metonímia, para exprimir duas conotações atribuídas aos judeus que creem em Cristo, traduzindo, no hoje da comunidade cristã, um novo sentido dado ao ser “resto” de Israel e descendência de Abraão. Esta figura de linguagem condensa hermeneuticamente a ação teológico-histórica do dom de Deus em vista da salvação de Israel, anunciada por Isaías e agora realizada por meio da fé em Cristo.
