Abstract

Discourse Analysis can be used as a theoretical basis for efficiently analyzing the biblical text and producing different results from those found in traditional biblical commentaries. This is mainly because its tools facilitate the analysis of concepts such as ideology, ideological formation (IF), discursive formations (DFs), and their correlates. These are observed based on the conditions of discourse production (CPs). Based on this theory, this article proposes to analyze the expression "kingdom of God" from Matthew 6,33. To accomplish this, the analytical framework used in the analysis is presented prior to its conclusion in the final section, which reveals the interplay with the Roman imperialist system. This interaction elucidates the meaning of the expression within its original context and its relevance today. The expression signifies that the "kingdom of God" surpasses and embodies greater justice than the Roman kingdom, asserting its belonging to the true king, Jesus. This study aims to analyze these effects of meaning and examine the discursive construction of this discourse.
